In preparation for a free training event on online meeting technologies, Kevin Smith, CEO of Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce met up online with Andrew Cripps, President and CEO of Isle of Wight County Chamber in Isle of Wight County in Virginia, USA.
The technology team at Isle of Wight College were on hand to ensure that the practice session all ran smoothly. The practice session highlighted how easy it is to meet up in real time and transact business in a face to face way without the need to travel.
Effective business is all about relationships and social interactions with customers and suppliers. This involves in the main face-to-face meetings yet the time and cost of travel around the Isle of Wight and to the mainland impacts on business efficiency.
Coralesce ltd in partnership with Isle of Wight Council, Community Action Isle of Wight and the Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce are running a free training event at Isle of Wight College in Newport. The event will provide workshops on subscription services such as GoToMeeting, Adobe Connect as well as free services such as Skype, Facetime and Google Hangouts. Isle of Wight Council and BT will be showcasing the roll-out of superfast broadband across the island.
The event is being held on Monday 29th February 2016 and places are free for individuals who work or run organisations in the public, private or voluntary sector on the Isle of Wight.
One of the highlights of the event will be an online meeting between the two Chief Executives of the respective Chambers of Commerce who share the same name despite one in Virginia, USA and one in Newport, England. Isle of Wight County is based in Virginia.
