The Isle of Wight Council are advising that there will be changes to some refuse collections in the run up to Christmas this year.
All collections due between Monday 21st December and Friday 25th December will be on different days as outlined in the table below, including on a Saturday. For all households, their collections will be one or two days earlier.
Collections will then be as normal from Monday 28th December, apart from Friday 1st January. Any households due to have their waste collected on this day will have it picked up on Saturday 2nd January instead.
Waste collections will resume as normal from Monday 4th January.
For the first time this year, residents can book a collection for their natural Christmas trees, which will be collected from the kerbside on the same day as recycling collection and taken for composting.
The service will be available between 7th January and 4th February 2016 but must be booked at least three working days in advance. To book a collection, contact 01983 823777 or use the online green waste booking form via www.iwight.com/waste.
When booking a collection, remember:
• If your next recycling day is on a Monday, book your green garden waste collection by 6pm on Wednesday
• If you next recycling day is on a Tuesday, book your green waste collection by 6pm on Thursday
• If your next recycling day is on a Wednesday, book your green waste collection by 12noon on Saturday
• If your next recycling day is on a Thursday, book your green waste collection by 6pm on Monday
• If you next recycling day is on a Friday, book your green waste collection by 6pm on Tuesday
Once you have requested your Christmas tree to be collected, leave it next to your green wheeled bin/clear plastic sacks by 07:00 on your recycling collection day.
Unwanted natural Christmas trees can also be disposed of at Lynnbottom or Afton Marsh household waste recycling centres (HWRCs). Artificial trees no longer wanted must also be taken to one of the HWRCs.
