The Cowes chain ferry will be out of service on Tuesday (3rd November).
The chain ferry – also known as the floating bridge – will not be operating to allow for its chains to be renewed.
The chains must be replaced every two years to ensure the service continues to run.
A passenger launch will be in place for pedestrians and cyclists between 08:00 and 20:00. The 40p passenger return fare will remain in place. Vehicles will be diverted via Newport.
The chain ferry will be back in service from 20:00 on Tuesday evening subject to the maintenance being completed on time. It will operate a normal service on Wednesday 4th November.
The council apologises for any disruption this required maintenance may cause.
