As previously reported by Island Echo, a multi-agency search and rescue operation was launched on the evening of Friday 11th September after the man was found in his kayak off the East coast of the Island.
The unknown man was last seen at Brighton Canoes, in Newhaven, Sussex at around 16:00 on Tuesday 8th September – two weeks ago today. He is believed to have had an Irish accent.
The man, who Police are struggling to identify, is described as white, approximately mid 20s-mid 30s with blue eyes and dark hair. He is said to have nice teeth and is well built. He was wearing a biege pair of shorts and a blue zip-up jacket.
Island Echo understands a receipt found in the deceased’s shorts led Police to discovering his last known movements.
The death is currently being treated as unexplained and inquiries are ongoing to try to establish the circumstances.
Anyone who recognises the man is asked to call Newport CID on 101, quoting 44150315983.
