A car on its side has forced the closure of a main road in Newchurch this morning (Friday).
Emergency services were called to the crash on Winford Road at around 08:30 this morning.
A car with 3 occupants, travelling along the road, has rolled over onto its side.
Fire appliances from Ryde, Shanklin and Sandown have been mobilised to the scene.
They have been joined by several police and paramedic vehicles, including the enhanced care paramedic.
The busy road remains closed between its junctions with Watery Lane and Harbors Lake Lane while efforts to assess those in the car are conducted. Recovery will need to be called to retrieve the car after the fact.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
UPDATE @ 10:18 – Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that no serious injuries have been reported at the current time.
Those freed from the car are in care of the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
Police officers remain on scene.
Good luck to the driver and any passengers – another vehicle off its wheels of course, nothing new there but conditions were awful this morning. I was pleasantly surprised that most drivers were very sensible this morning, on my commute at least. And that remains the same most days too, of course.
