A car has been crashed and left abandoned in the middle of St George’s Roundabout today (Friday).
The incident, which is thought to have happened overnight, has seen a silver Vauxhall Astra Estate come to rest in the middle of the traffic island.
It’s believed the vehicle was heading out of Newport from Coppins Bridge and along St George’s Way when the incident occurred.
Police have been made aware.

Great parking that, no double yellow lines I guess
More elderly drivers will be along soon.
More ageist loonies will be along soon – and here you are already.
You will never live that old, keep taking what ever your taking….idiot..
“You’re “. So very basic!
“You’re”. Learn to write properly!
More likely a youngster high on drugs or alcohol.
33 according to the echo
33 isn’t old, mind you if your only 10years old, and you sound like you are, 33 will sound old.
For heavens sake grow up
Pity you are unable to read !
Mature drivers are not out at 2am on a Friday morning, only speeding criminals, druggies and drunks, apart from hard working shift and night workers .
33 years old actually.
33 isn’t elderly. Pi*sed or taken some sort of sh*t that he thinks is cool and gets him hi.
Automatic ban for 3 years and a large fine should do it.
well in jackery
The council will soon put a pay and display on that roundabout..
Or a building plot !
Drunk or druggie doing a runner I guess.
The question that immediately comes to mind is why was this not found by the police during the night? Don’t they patrol any more? Just like a break in a few days ago reported here where the door of premises was smashed and beer stolen. Why was this not found by the police? It seems they only respond when incidents are reported by the public. I sincerely hope that I am wrong.
You are having a Turkish, right? There would have to be several thousand police to patrol every road, wouldn’t there……..
Too many tigers in there.
Suppose we should be thankful he smashed through a roundabout instead of a human. Hope he looses his licence.
That’s two last night early this morning a motorcycle last night over the limit and crashed air ambulance came over
Crashed air ambulance?
Who’s going to rescue them?
I think you’ll find that’s “too”. Very simple grammar!
Hey up, you can’t park there mate.
U pot head get off the road
His sat nav said “Enter the Roundabout”.
Not the motor cyclist from earlier perchance
Hope he didn’t squash any of the foxes that play on that roundabout.
I blame the Audi driver
And me thay only go in straight lines because I’ve never seen one induction
Another idiot… no thoughts of possibly killing someone..
This whole issue of irrational, without foundation, blame is pointless and totally ignorant. we have to face it, the standard of driving on the Island is APPALLING. People who are far too old to be driving just haven’t got a clue at junctions/ roundabouts, and in fact there total incompetence causes those following behind them to become frustrated and often make dangerous driving decisions. It’s about time patrol cars started to monitor junctions/roundabouts and see what is the real reason for so many drinking ‘incidents’. Get it sorted IoW!!
it is not just the old… in fact it is the younger drivers that cause most accidents !!
So, Phil Burt, you say: “This whole issue of irrational, without foundation, blame is pointless and totally ignorant”.
You then go on to irrationally and, without foundation, blame “old people who don’t have a clue”, which marks YOU out as the one who is “totally ignorant” and offensively ageist.
YOU seem unable to read, or spell correctly, or even understand simple facts – the driver was 33 years of age so why your irrelevant attack on ‘old people’?
Get back in your pram and get YOURSELF sorted!
