10 Red Jet crossings have been cancelled tomorrow (Friday) as cross-Solent travel operator Red Funnel continues to struggle with staff availability.
The 06:05, 07:15, 08:25, 15:35 and 16:45 from Southampton and 06:40, 07:50, 09:00, 16:10 and 17:20 from Cowes have been cancelled due to critical staff availability.
This comes after cancellations were made last night and today (Thursday) to the company’s vehicle East Cowes – Southampton ferry – again due to a lack of staff.
Red Funnel apologises for any inconvenience to your journey.

God help anyone who relys on these boats for commuting to work hospital appointments or any other regular buisness on the mainland. Our two ferry companies are abysmal and the service they provide is just getting worse and worse. We shouldn’t be expected to put up with this.

2021 accounts eagerly and imminently awaited, but by 31 Dec 2020 they had dumped 50 staff out of 500. Apparently the following year showed a remarkable upturn in performance, so it will be interesting to see how many more staff they saw fit to “lose” under improving circumstances.
