A burst water main has been reported in Bembridge tonight (Sunday) leaving homeowners with low pressure or in some cases, without water altogether.
Southern Water is aware of a bust main on Mill Lane between Steyne Road/Sandown Road/Hillway Road mini-roundabout and the High Street.
The water board was alerted to the incident at around 21:30 after locals were reporting a loss of mains water.
Residents have told Island Echo the High Street/Mill Lane between the mini-roundabout and village centre has been placed under an emergency road closure to enable contractors to locate and carry out repairs to the burst.
Motorists are to divert via Steyne Road and Foreland Road until further notice.
Contractors hope to have supplies reestablished to those affected properties within 3 hours.
A spokesperson for Southern Water has said:
“We have a team on site repairing the burst.
“Your water supply should return to normal within three hours.
“You may notice some discolouration or low pressure at first; this is completely normal when there’s been a disruption to the supply and is only temporary.
“Again, please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.
Southern Water is expected to release a further update at around midnight.
