Burger King says they intend to open their first Isle of Wight restaurant within a matter of weeks, Island Echo can reveal.
Islanders will finally be able to order Big Whoppers, chicken fries and more from the sought-after fast food chain, which will be situated in the heart of Newport.
Burger King will throw open its doors in part of the former Office Outlet building at Coppins Bridge – with a drive-thru created in what is currently used as a service yard.
Island Echo is told that 16th December has been penned in as a potential opening date, but this has not yet been confirmed.
Dozens of jobs are set to be created by the store opening with applications for team member positions already being sought.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Burger King has said:
“BURGER KING® franchisees are regularly evaluating opportunities to bring our great-tasting products to more guests in new locations.
“We can confirm that there will be a new restaurant opening at this location in the next few weeks; however we do not have further information at this time”.
The Coppins Bridge complex at Furrlongs currently boasts a 11-screen Cineworld cinema, KFC drive-thru, Pizza Hut and Fever bar. It will soon also play host to The Gym.

Cannot wait. It will be even better if they do the Rebel Whopper (vegetarian). Roll on December 16th… fingers crossed.
The rebel whopper is not vegeterian
I’ll look forward to the Burger King packaging floating down the river along with McDonald’s and KFC rubbish!
shush
More junk food, more cost to the NHS…
But they have a gym next door. So it’s all good 😉

I hear they are ‘sponsoring’ a new Coronary ward at St Mary’s and having a defib device on the exit.
More “Big Whoppers” in trakkies causing me to call for the eye bleach…
Some where else for the dole wallers and pushchair brigade to sit all day, also more rubbish littering the island, might as well open a betting shop next door we need another one in Newport NOT
Might give the McDonald’s staff a break from there undesirables
Would a Loch fyne suit you better? I’m sorry this is Newport, people aren’t made of money. Go to Yarmouth or freshwater if you can’t cope with different classes.
Brilliant about time ! 50 jobs
What a let down , cold burgers and chips, and 20.00 out of pocket… No chance of returning as had to q for 30 minutes to complete through the drive thru …..
