Bembridge RNLI lifeboat launched at the request of Solent Coastguard earlier this evening (Monday) to assist a broken down RIB off Whitecliff Bay.
The call for help came in around 17:10 and prompted the launch of the Tamar-class All Weather Lifeboat.
Having located the RIB and ascertained that a local repair was not achievable, the ‘Alfred Albert Williams’ towed the casualty vessel to Bembridge Harbour where she was berthed alongside the Visitors Pontoon by 18:15.
Bembridge Lifeboat then returned to the Offshore Boathouse and was recovered by 19:00.
Last night (Sunday) Yarmouth RNLI launched to assist a yacht off Hurst Point. As Sunday rolled into Monday, Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team were called to East Cowes to assist a separate yacht that had got lost in the fog off The Needles and had been escorted to the River Medina by Lymington RNLI.
