UPDATED: Royal Navy Bomb Disposal experts have been called to Isle of Wight Aggregates on Arctic Road in Cowes this afternoon (Wednesday).
The discovery of ordnance has prompted the area to be cordoned off by Police.
The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team from Portsmouth travelled across the Solent on the 15:00 ferry to Fishbourne before rushing with blue lights and sirens to the scene alongside the banks of the River Medina.
UPDATE @ 17:05 – It has been confirmed that 3 projectiles have been discovered on site.
