Bembridge RNLI were called to the rescue of a stricken motor cruiser that had broken down near Bembridge Ledge earlier today (Sunday).
The RNLB Frank and Anne Wilkinson was launched at around 17:36 this evening, at the request of UK Coast Guard to assist a 24 foot motor cruiser with 2 people on board.
A Force 4 Westerly breeze meant that it did not take them long to reach the casualty vessel and having weighed up the options it was decided to put her under tow to and take her back to Bembridge Harbour.
Arrangements were made with the Harbour Master and a Harbour Water Taxi took over the tow just outside the inner harbour entrance at 17:58.
The ALB and her crew then returned to the Offshore Boathouse and was re-housed by 6.20pm.
