Gurnard Primary School and Newchurch Primary School travelled to Southampton to compete in Day Two of the 2016 Be Your Best Southampton J Rock today (Friday) and won an array of awards of excellence.
Gurnard Primary School’s piece ‘The Faraway Tree’ took the audience on a journey of adventure and imagination with stunningly detailed hair and make-up designs complimented by shimmering costumes which transported the audience into a glittering fantasy world. Strong drama skills and characterisation captivated the audience in this magical performance.
Newchurch Primary school (pictured left) performed ‘Pause and reflect, see the truth!’ From start to finish this fast paced performance mesmerised the audience with strong choreographic formations and floor work creating high impact! Costumes and make-up effectively caught the light to help create the Snow Queen’s story in a polished, well-rehearsed performance.
The event, held at the O2 Guildhall Southampton, attracted a sell-out audience and was supported by PQA, Association of Chief Police Officers Criminal Records Office, Southampton City Council, Hampshire County Council, Hampshire Drug and Alcohol Action Team, Ian Wright Consulting, Radian, HC3S, Hampshire Healthy Schools and Zeamu Music.
