Police are investigating an attempted knifepoint robbery that took place near a children’s playpark in Ryde earlier this week.
It was on Monday nightn (18th November) that a local man was sitting in a shelter at Simeon Street Recreation Ground when he was approached by an unknown male.
The victim was threatened with a knife and told to hand over his possessions by the brazen male, who was dressed all in black and had his face covered.
Thankfully, the victim was not injured and nothing was taken. He escaped the situation, but left his bicycle behind – which was later recovered by Police.
The shocking incident took place at around 22:00.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary is now investigating the matter with the force saying that enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

Islandwide CCTV is needed on the Island.
A complete societal reset would be better.
There is still crime in areas where CCTV is present. Look at London, more cameras than virtually anywhere on the planet but a severely increasing crime rate. Unless you want them in the home too, to stop home-based crimes. Remember 1984 by Mr Orwell was a WARNING and not a BLUEPRINT !!!
At least having Camera’s it still minimizes crime.
Also Londons speed Camera’s guarantee the
motorist receives an hefty fine in the post.
On the Island people just keep speeding
because they know nothing will happen.
IW Council could make a fortune by placing decent
Camera’s around the island.
Where is Crocodile Dundee when you need him.
