Police have arrested a man on suspicion of criminal damage after a commercial property was broken into in Shanklin yesterday evening (Saturday).
At around 20:05 last night (Saturday) police were called to the Llama Lounge Hairdressers on Falcon Cross Road in Shanklin to a report that a man had damaged a window at the front of the property.
It is understood that once he had damaged the property and was seen by members of the public, the man waited and sat on the kerbside until police arrived.
At the scene, officers arrested the 35-year-old man from Shanklin on suspicion of criminal damage and also of assaulting an emergency worker.
He remains in custody at this time whilst investigations continue.

Nothing but a toxic piece of sh1t
You Know nothing about him. It could be Mental Illness..
There’s a lot of it about.
People are Quick to point the finger and get a like on Facebook round these here parts
That ‘old chesnut’ everything these days is blamed on mental health. It’s pathetic.
IF you are that mental, then you should be locked up in an asylum, as you could injure yourself badly with broken glass, but MORE importantly injure decent, useful, normal people who are paying to keep the deranged alive.
Or just drunk
IF so, still needs removing from normal peoples lives for good.
The asylums were built like jails to protect normal people from mental people.
Now they as are many criminals living, breeding amongst normal people and the world has never ever been in such an awful position.
If a danger to the public, then whether mad or evil, WE need protection and they, if so crazy need to be in a padded cell for their safety if we must care for them do it properly.
Perhaps he was unhappy with his haircut
Subhuman so many about
Why is there a large Grey VW van with NO Mot parked along Great Preston Road, Ryde outside the Council Houses.
The owner works very hard and pays taxes to keep people like you in comfort.
The VW is too new to require an MOT
I assume you are the Ginger social housed tenant who has issues over parking hence the angst
Perhaps if you worked as hard as PM you too could pay your way and lose the bag of Mc Caines on scrawny shoulders?
Still easier to get others to fund a lifestyle isn’t it
What has this got to do with the article?
Any comment on the answer given, not old enough for MOT
OMG. Will you PLEASE just shut up and go away. You’re VERY boring and ANNOYING. Get a life. Find something useful to do with your time.
Well done police. Who will be let down by our sympathetic magistrates.
He wants to go to prison are u that
Dim why else would be wait for the police prison is better than a bench
Welcome to the IW comments page…..lol.
If all he did was break the window – the property was not broken into!
So who do you think should pay for the intentional damage? This low life should, he did it. Why should the owner claim on insurance. Probably wants to be arrested. He’ll get a free cup of tea and maybe a free meal.
Police should break its jaw whilst resisting Arrest
I hope he is ok and didn’t hurt himself.
I wonder where this waste of space has come from? Total disregard for other people’s property. Make the low life pay for the damage he caused to the window. As for assaulting an emergency worker, scum who do to this should be fined, HEAVILY.
Subhuman so many about these day’s.
