Police on the Isle of Wight are looking to track down some key witnesses to a bicycle collision which took place in St Lawrence yesterday (Sunday).
At around 10:45, police were called to St Lawrence Shute, near the junction with Seven Sisters Road, after a cyclist collided with a wall and a safety barrier.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service rushed to the scene, where they found the casualty with a head injury. He was taken to St Mary’s Hospital by land ambulance under Police escort to be met by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, as previously reported by Island Echo.
The cyclist, a man in his 50s from Ryde, is now being treated at Southampton General Hospital. He was riding a black and red Trek road racing bike.
Police believe there were a group of 3 cyclists nearby who may have witnessed the incident but left the area after the arrival of emergency services. If you were one of these cyclists and you saw what happened, you are asked to get in touch with Hampshire Constabulary.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Police on 101, quoting 44210136102.

Very steep, narrow, and twisty, and any car or motor bike coming up, has little chance to see someone before it is too late if speeding down past the ruined Station house.
Hope he is ok and can tell the story himself soon.
There was no other vehicle involved. Rumour is he was catapulted over the wall? Don’t quote me that’s just what I heard. Sounds like he was going too fast down that hill. Also wonder if he was wearing a helmet as I see plenty around there that don’t. Wish him a speedy recovery.
Ruined station house? That is someone’s home!! They won’t be happy!
Hope he is ok. Sometimes it is difficult to see cyclists on windy roads until it is too late.
He was only 20 yesterday ???
Temporal time vortex, it’s a timey wimey thing
+1 for legit Dr Who reference. 😀
