A cyclist has been rushed to hospital under Police escort after suffering a head injury in an incident in St Lawrence today (Sunday).
Emergency services responded to Seven Sisters Road, at the bottom of St Lawrence Shute, at just before 11:00 this morning following reports that a cyclist had come off his bike.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and Police rushed to the scene, where they found the casualty – a man in his 50s – with a head injury.
He was taken to St Mary’s Hospital by land ambulance under Police escort to be met by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, which had landed on the helipad.
It’s understood that the man is being treated for non life-threatening injuries.
Editor’s footnote: It was originally said that the cyclist was a man in his 20s. It has since been corrected that it was a man in his 50s.

Hope they have a swift recovery.
“They”?
Looks like he did it all by himself.
Wonder if he was wearing a helmet.
I’ve seen plenty of cyclists round st Lawrence way not wearing helmets. Let’s hope he makes a good recovery.
Time they helmets compulsory your head is a very delicate part to damage if you hit the road
Perhaps his licra was too tight….it may have affected his concentration.
Fingers crossed he makes a complete recovery.
Those scooters will be the next death trap there’s just no rules like helmets for a start .
these kids are on the main road with very little or no understanding of Highway Code or have passed any test to be on public highway .
Dont understand y you haven’t got to of passed a test or something before your let loose on one .
Same as bicycles or E bikes then. More blah blah blah anti scooter nonsense.
