The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance was scrambled to Newport earlier this evening (Saturday) on what was the helicopter’s 2nd Island shout of the day.
The urgent call was made to flying doctors at around 17:30, with it taking the helicopter little time to reach the Island having travelled from its base at Thruxton.
The helicopter, sporting its yellow and green livery, circled the skies above Newport before landing at Nine Acres field.
On the ground, several vehicles from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service – including the Enhanced Care Paramedic – were called to an ongoing medical emergency on nearby Woodbine Close.
Island Echo understands that the casualty was taken to St Mary’s Hospital by land ambulance.
As previously reported by Island Echo, the air ambulance was called to East Cowes this morning.
