UPDATED: Hovertravel have suspended their Ryde to Southsea service this morning (Wednesday) due to the adverse weather conditions.
High winds and choppy seas mean that the decision has been taken to bring the cross-Solent service to a temporary halt.
No other operators are currently affected by the weather with all car ferries and high speed services running to timetable.
Hovertravel says that the situation will be monitored every half hour.
Customers – and media – have to manually check the status of the service now as it appears the operator has stopped issuing push notifications and emails earlier than expected. It was announced that the way in which the company communicates with its passengers would change at the end of November, as previously reported by Island Echo.
UPDATE @ 14:43 – Services have now resumed from both Ryde and Southsea in accordance with the new winter timetable.
