The first day of the 2023 Chale Show has been cancelled due to adverse weather.
Due to the horrendous conditions and the current weather warning in place for wind and rain, organisers have made the decision to cancel today’s proceedings in the interest of safety.
A spokesperson for the Chale Show has said:
“The site will be closed for today whilst we deal with the ongoing situation.
“Thank you for your understanding.”
It is hoped that the 2nd day of the event can go ahead as planned should the weather allow.
This is just the latest event cancellation as a result of the poor weather this summer.

More global cooling is on its way….Plant More trees, not concrete…
the island needs to build 1000+ us Londoners need 2nd homes the drugs are cheaper over there
I understand that live events & general admission on Saturday was cancelled but what about the competition classes: Were exhibits still submitted for judging?
Mercenary!
Why would you pay £14 per adult to risk life from wind blowing marquees down etc to see a cucumber or bunch flowers?. Shame at 10am nothing on their website it Facebook to say cancelled!
It was cancelled as soon as I saw the entry ticket price.
After your comment thought i would check entrance price. Blimey £14 and only for one day
It’s a load xxxx anyway. Extortionate prices etc.Full of retards…
Ignoring the usual inane comments, Well Done to the organisers for making the decision based on safety for all and common sense. Hope you all attend and support all the hard work tomorrow.
Just an event for the bored, PAY to buy some silly jar of pickle, jam, or oil with a few twigs floating about in it but all wrapped in pretty but useless paper.
Or watch a few windswept animals plod about in mud.
And put up with queues of bored people awaiting an over priced greasy burger to try to appease the even more bored kids.
No great loss imo
There must be a lot of idiots over here then – it was packed today … thoroughly enjoyable too. What did you do for the day then sit and watch tv swigging beer .. or were you glued to your phone or tablet ???
Ignoring the usual inane and stupid comments Well Done to the organisers for making a sensible decision based on safety and common sense. Come and enjoy a great day tomorrow
These events are not meaningful anymore as they once were for country folk who lived and worked in farming.
Now it is just a rip-off ticket price just to buy over priced food from stalls, and stand in a queue for hours awaiting a overcooked or undercooked cheap burger at some stupid price.
Beer prices are mugging you, and the entertainment is dismal.
A windswept boring place, best remembered for the past when farms, and real locals not just mainland fools and bored holiday makers who can’t face a windswept cold day ‘again’ on the beach drive around looking for something, anything to appease the bored bickering kids for five minutes.
The only boring thing I hear mate… is you lol
