A cheque for more than £1,800 has been handed over to the Isle of Wight’s Admiral Nurses, thanks to retiring collections and donations collected by Newchurch Male Voice Choir in 2024.
Admiral Nurses are the unsung heroes for the sufferers and families of all forms of dementia. The Admiral Nurses are part of Dementia UK and the Island team works as part of Memory Services at St Mary’s Hospital. They provide specialist care and nursing services in the family homes.
With members of the Newchurch Male Voice Choir having used the services of the nurses, the choir decided to give something back.
Donations were collected at each concert held in 2024, resulting in a total being raised of £1,811.
Members of the choir recently met with the team of Admiral Nurses at Quay Arts, alongside team leader Sam Patey, Nurses Hannah Buckett, Carol Currums, Pauline Smith, Tony Cole and Rae Stratton.
Bob Cooper, Vice Chair of the Choir, says:
“Being able to bring the pleasure of singing and music to the public and to also give support to Island Groups and Charities makes occassions such as this, and the raising of this donation, so worthwhile”.
