5 teenagers were arrested after breaking into an abandoned Sandown hotel last night (Wednesday) – but it wasn’t the Ocean Hotel.
South Wight Neighbourhood Policing Team alongside officers from Response and Patrol Team B were called to The Parkbury Hotel on Broadway after reports were made that a group of youths had broken into the hotel.
At the scene, 5 males aged 15-17 were arrested.
This was the latest in a busy recent catalogue of incidents involving vandalism of Sandown hotels after last weekend’s spate of damage to the Ocean Hotel.
It has been confirmed today that the teens have been released under investigation and given Section 35 Dispersal notices banning them from Sandown for 48 hours.
Sergeant Sharland said:
“We are working closely with those responsible for the site to have the building re-secured.”
Why so many hotels closed and yet we have housing crisis and lack of care homes, come on IOW council you’re greed with business rates and regulations are failing to provide for community in need.
They should be locked up (in a derelict hotel) and throw away the key.

Trespass is a civil offence, the police deal with criminal offences. As long as the teens left when told to do so then they will be free to go. Down to the owners if they wish to prosecute. Trespass should be a criminal offence. Don’t agree? Talk to people who have had their homes invaded by squatters.
Banned them from Sandown for 48hrs. Wow what a deterrent most of us would be quite happy with being banned for life

Not one person they smashed anything they went in there and done it up they made a abandoned room usable to kids considering the council don’t bother doing anything for the kids I wasn’t even there but I know the people and you act like you know what they did in there I never went in there but I saw videos and they litro fixed a room you don’t need to say anything it’s up to to the person who owns the building on if they charge them or not
