3 teenage boys who found themselves cut off by the tide on a remote stretch of coastline were rescued in a multi-agency operation during the early hours of this morning (Saturday).
It was just gone midnight that HM Coastguard responded to reports of 3 males in trouble at Luccombe Bay, between Shanklin and Ventnor.
Coastguard Rescue Teams from Bembridge and Ventnor were paged to attend, with Bembridge RNLI’s All Weather and Inshore lifeboats launched into the darkness.
The casualties were picked up by the volunteer lifeboat crew and taken ashore at Shanklin Esplanade.
It’s here that the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service had several resources standing by to check over the trio.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary was also in attendance.
If you or someone else is in difficulty on the coast or at sea, or if you spot what you think may be unexploded ordnance, then dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard. Further safety information can be found at https://coastguardsafety.campaign.gov.uk/.
