Many residents in Brighstone are without mobile phone signal at the moment as a result of mast issues affecting 3 of the nation’s biggest networks.
Those who use either O2, Three or Vodafone have been left without mobile phone and internet signal for as long as 2 weeks, with no end in sight to the disruption.
O2 has said that they are awaiting permission from the landowner in the village before they can access and repair the mast, whilst both Three and Vodafone have said that they have engineers working as quickly as they can to fix the issue – not that anyone has seen them.
This isn’t the first time that something like this has happened in Village with signal dropping in the area for around 5 weeks a few years back.

we had a mast problem in Freshwater, earlier this year. It wasn’t totally down, just intermittent and it took nearly 3 months before the problem was resolved
Surely if the telecoms providers had all the proper leases and wayleaves in place this sort of thing should never happen.
In a former job, we had a civilian mast on an MOD site, and they required 2 weeks written notice for access in the wayleave.
Depending on how the mast is connected to the Switch, it might be an OpenReach backhaul fault or an SHF line of sight issue with another mast.
Spoken with O2 and landowners are delaying access and have denied. No idea why and they cant fix until permission granted
That would explain a lot of things for the past few weeks in Brading.
Many people these days rely on these service and don’t have a land line so in the case of an emergency have no access to emergency services! Any problem with the network should be fixed within 24 hour maximum. Access to the mast should be always available, if someone dies of a heart attack because they cannot ring the emergency services because they are alone what will be the outcry!
