29-YEAR-OLD QUESTIONED BY POLICE AFTER CAR WITH 8 PASSENGERS CRASHES

A 29-year-old local woman has been questioned and released pending further investigation on suspicion of drink driving and dangerous driving following a crash in Colwell during the early hours of yesterday morning (Monday).

As previously reported by Island Echo, emergency services were called to Colwell Road near Freshwater at 02:35 following reports of a vehicle having rolled and come to rest on its roof.

Emergency services arrived on scene to find a total of 8 casualties, 1 having sustained serious injuries. Shockingly, it has been revealed that all 8 adults were in the same vehicle.

No other vehicles were involved in the collision.

A 29-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle dangerously and driving a motor vehicle whilst over the prescribed limit, however, she has since been released without charge but remains under investigation.

Editor’s footnote: Information incorrectly supplied by an official body indicated the woman had been charged with the above offences. We are happy to confirm that she has not been charged, but the investigation continues.
