A graphic designer from Newport has been handed a 2-year community order after he was found guilty of hurling abuse at the occupants of a property in Newport.
Martin Timbers, 59, of Barton Road in Newport, previously pleaded guilty to using threatening/abusive/language to cause harassment alarm or distress when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court last month (1st August).
Lauren Stone, prosecuting, told the court that on 27th July, Police were called to an address in Newport after receiving reports that a man was attempting to enter a building.
Timbers repeatedly pleaded with the occupants to let him in but his demands were ignored.
An aggravated Timbers then proceeded to shout at the occupants saying ‘let me in you f***ing c**t’ and shouting a homophobic slur at another.
Timbers was made subject to bail conditions following his 1st appearance at court on 1st August. On 14th August, Timbers was arrested after he was found near the front door he spent the next 8 days at HMP Isle of Wight.
Defending, Michael McGoldrick told the court that Timbers, who works as a graphic designer, was having a tough time in his personal life and that he used alcohol as a way of coping.
Timbers was handed a 2-year community order with 15 rehabilitation days attached. He was also fined £100 and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £114 surcharge fee.
