2 people have been treated in hospital after sustaining serious injuries following a single vehicle motorcycle accident in Appley last night (Monday).
As previously reported by Island Echo, an air ambulance was scrambled to the scene after the crash on Calthorpe Road, close to the junction with Puckpool Hill and Appley Road, at just after 18:00.
Island Echo understands that the 2 casualties were riding a motorcycle at the time of the incident, with the pillion thrown from the vehicle.
Police have confirmed that 1 of the casualties – thought to be the rider – ‘moved on from the scene’ but was subsequently located by officers.
A motorcycle was later located and recovered by the Police at the end of Puckpool Close – a cul-de-sac not far from the scene of the crash.
Although the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance was on scene, the 2 casualties were taken to St Mary’s Hospital in Newport by land.
The road re-opened after just an hour.
