The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have tackled 2 separate fires at Parkhurst Forest tonight (Monday).
2 appliances from Newport were mobilised to the scene off Forest Road at around 20:30 following a call from a member of the public.
The seats of fire are understood to have been around 50m or so apart, sparking fears of a serial arsonist targeting the area.
This latest incident comes less than a week after the fire service announced they were probing 2 suspicious fires and considering a third incident as potentially suspicious. All 4 incidents have taken place within 1/2 mile of one another.
Thankfully, on this occasion, fire crews were able to quickly bring the fires under control using hose reel jets.
Last night (Sunday) firefighters were called to a suspicious fire at St George’s Down, also in Newport. Police were called to the scene.
