VIDEO: COASTGUARD TEAMS CALLED TO INJURED MAN ON BEACH

UPDATED: Coastguard Rescue Teams from Bembridge and Ventnor are attending an incident in the area of Niton Undercliff this afternoon (Sunday).

Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are also on scene.

Emergency services were called to the remote location near to St Catherine’s Point at around 14:40.

UPDATE @ 16:10 – Coastguard Rescue helicopter 175 has landed on the beach at Blackgang to evacuate a casualty with the assistance of Coastguard officers already on the ground.

UPDATE @ 16:50 – The helicopter has successfully airlifted the male casualty, suffering from a minor leg injury, to St Mary’s Hospital.

Emergency services have now stood down from the incident.
