An incident involving 2 vehicles caused heavy traffic delays on the main road to Ryde this evening (Sunday).
The incident occurred at 16:15 and saw a Red VW Golf and a Silver Jaguar XJ come to a head outside the pub.
2 ambulances, 1 police unit and the operational commander were all mobilised to the scene.
Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that no injuries were sustained.
All but 1 of the emergency service personnel and their vehicles has left the scene – with a single police unit staying until recovery arrives.
Traffic flow in the area is back to normal now
UPDATE @ 17:45 – Recovery has arrived and is in the process of taking both the damaged cars away from the scene.

Unfortunately despite it being a 30mph zone you do find motorists regularly rolling down the hill at speed.
Speed does not cause accidents!
Idiots that can’t handle cars at speed do, as we constantly see.
More idiots will be along soon….
We can be sure you will always be the first idiot, are you able to actually write anything else? You know nothing of the circumstances and have the cheek to accuse others of being an idiot.
It clearly gives you pleasure and that is rather sad.
Unfortunately he is right.
No point in saying anything else, because more idiots always come along soon….
You would not be able to say, ” anything else “, you have exhausted your level of intelligence, try looking up the definition of Troll, you fit the definition.
He’s being totally honest people do drive like idiots on our roads and I’m not just on about speed. People really don’t take when driving.
There are people who drive like idiots, see them every day, however, to comment the same about every RTC with no evidence that an ” idiot was responsible ” is simply not acceptable, I sincerely hope that one day you do not have an accident whether it be a multi vehicle or singular and you read the comment about your circumstances describing you as an idiot, I make it perfectly clear I do NOT defend idiot driving, however not every accident is due to an idiot,
I would be the first to condemn a PROVEN idiot driver.
still BAD driving ..
The keyboard worriers with there idiot defending will be posting their comments soon…..come on you Trolls let see them….
You do not make comments about drivers being idiots until you have clear evidence to prove the same, someone may have been an ‘idiot’, however until you know the facts the only idiot is you.
I do not defend poor driving; it is just that, your blanket idiot comment is a fine example of a ” keyboard warrior ” and your abuse of free speech is in itself, sad. It appears to give you satisfaction without knowledge to be a “Troll”.
People just don’t like the truth. I’m definitely not a troll but agree with him. You all pussyfoot around these people that don’t take care on the roads but it’s causing chaos on our roads and it needs to stop. So many life’s lost. Its so sad
Lol. You and Phil Mcavity knows how to wind up the masses.
Sad they don’t get out much
You are the master of TROLLS and by the way it is spelt, warrior’s, you idiot.
@ get a life: To be pedantic,
assuming you are refering to the plural of warrior, not something belonging to the warrior, then
“warriors” (without the apostrophy) would be correct,.. so you are also, by your own use of the word, an idiot.
Liquid lunch again?
More well fed boomers from the sloops sunday carvary will be along soon whilst thinking that the world revolves around them.
Worriers? There?
Did you mean ‘warriors’ by any chance? Come on speller of the year, you really must try a little harder. Oh and “keyboard warrior”…that’ll be you!
don@T be too hard on him, he suffrs from a total lack of intelligence, the doctors have said that if they combined his and the brains of all his relatives going back many generations they could only create a halfwit.
Surely the keyboard warriors are not worriers as well ?
I actually saw the accident happen right in front of me. The Jag wasn’t speeding but just right in front on the red car who was waiting to pull out, the older gentlemen swirled his car to the left abruptly. As if the steering wheel slipped in his hand or something. Really bizarre and I thought it was amazing that the red car was so totaled from a crash on the car’s corner. His airbags went off and all. Luckily a St.John’s ambulance was in front of the restaurant and really quickly there.
More old codgers will be along soon (fact) !
So, I presume the old gentleman was driving the Jag. Was he wearing large gloves?
What ‘older’ gentleman… ?? Your description is very poor… similar to your eyesight.
I just want to say that that the St. John’s ambulance didn’t make themselves useful, it was myself and my partner that assisted the scene first as we are both qualified medics and were fortunately there at the right time. Safe to say we were both disappointed at the lack of involvement of the St. John’s medics!
I’m a proper pot head mmmmm yeaaaa
mUST AGREE I mean even emergency vehicles on what is a narrow road for the speed they do. And I was a blue light driver in London for 25 years speeds of up to 100n mph on motorways And a Red light means stop proceed with caution even on Blue light see that most days at the ceders lights. BUt yes, speed in general fast for that road and, hey they took away the camera. it will take many serious accidents before any changes.
Old driver in the jag can’t see no doubt
More careless driving on the IOW, what a surprise. Police just need to force anyone who has caused a crash to have their license removed and thrown in jail, no debate, no appeal, just tough bloody luck. Too many unfit and lazy drivers on the Island. lol
More bad driving on the IW
More BAD driving, Not seeing, and pulling out into traffic… Oncoming vehicles do not have to give way to vehicles pulling out.. (those that do stop to let vehicles out, cause an obstruction to traffic behind them… mirrors are there for a reason.)
Let’s face it, a lot of the comments on this site, concerning the subject of Road Traffic Collisions on the IW, are posted by the growing number of the totally illiterate that inhabit the island and whose brains, if made of dynamite , would struggle to blow off their hats.
I blame the Audi driver
