A 2-car collision on one of the main roads to the East Wight, is causing traffic delays this evening (Saturday).
The incident occurred on the junction of The Downs Road and Brading Down Road.
One of the vehicles involved – a black Nissan Qashqai – has sustained some front left side damage to the wheel arch and bumper. Whilst the other car involved is no longer at the scene.
It is unsure quite exactly how the incident occurred.
Police are at the scene safely directing traffic, but slight delays are to be expected until the damaged vehicle can be recovered.

Saw the car racing through Ashey, light blue BMW 1 series, wasn’t stopping for nobody! Probably no insurance! Wish the police could get these lowlifes off our roads
Like nearly all BMW drivers. Arrogant and careless speed freaks! Stupid muppets who think the law doesn’t apply to them.
Yep, more second home owners who think that they are special.
Doesn’t say anything about BMW so did you see and tell the police then as just wondered
Absolutely, nothing to do with make and model of the car, just stupid people that don’t consider the consequences for their actions
Yah, more idiots will be along soon…..I’m bracing myself for the usual thumbs down from the bleeding heart lefty snow flakes defending another idiot driver..
I know how you feel, some people just need to scroll on and keep their daft snowflake views in their head….lol
Will that include yourself Why o why are people like you so arrogant that 1 there not from the island
I’m from the Island so put your stupid brain into gear before commenting you idiot. Nothing arrogant about my comment, just stating the facts that some clearly over sensitive people can’t hack. Chin up butter cup….lol
Bleeding heart LEFTY snow flakes ?????? What Planet do you live on ?
STRING THE C*** UP !!!!!!
Just one more reason why I never drive over the downs
More bad driving on the IW
I’m not sure what the obsession is with reporting every collision between vehicles on the Island roads no matter how trivial?
Local online news outlets in other areas of the country don’t bother, so why does the Echo feel the need? Do we really need to know that two cars bumped into each other and that half a dozen vehicles got delayed by a minute or two? Is that really news?
Obviously one or two regular commenters enjoy it as it livens up their lives, but for the rest of us is it really necessary?
Why is there a large grey VW van with NO Mot parked along Great Preston Road, Ryde outside the Council Houses.
Very annoying when trying to park.
