2 men in their 40s have been arrested, questione and released following a suspicious incident in Binstead over the weekend in which 2 teenage boys were approached.
Police were called at 17:45 yesterday (Sunday) with reports of a suspicious incident at Winston Close, off Winston Avenue. It’s said that a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old boy were approached by 2 males unknown to them.
Officers attended and based on the initial information provided, 2 men aged in their 40s were arrested on nearby Sherbourne Avenue.
Since the arrest, Police have spoken with all parties involved, as well as witnesses. As a result, no criminal offences have occurred. The 2 men have subsequently been released with no further action.
Yesterday’s incident comes just days after an 11-year-old boy was approached by a male at Pell Lane, also in Binstead.
A spokesperson for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has said:
“While no criminal offences were identified on this occasion, we still encourage our communities to please report all suspicious incidents to police so we can make a thorough assessment of the circumstances and take appropriate action.
“You can report to police by calling 101, or by submitting information via the report tool at www.hampshire.police.uk. Dial 999 if a crime is in progress or someone is in danger”.

All man bad, man must not speak to young people.
I’m sure it wouldn’t be reported if a middle aged woman approached the boys.
Depends on what was said, as a child my two friends and myself were approached up railway lines, the line I’ve lost my puppy can you help, not said today but still it’s not good to have strangers approach you in this day n age with trafficking of all ages..
‘As a result, no criminal offences have occurred. The 2 men have subsequently been released with no further action.’
So they were arrested and released and no crime had been committed. Is there a point to this story? Did I miss something?
They had to be seen to do something otherwise you’d be complaining they didn’t do anything.
Probably thought it a typical Isle of Wight man very odd , leave the kids alone you inbreds

As the most innocent, charming, respectful, delicate and kindly people to grace our shores then hardly likely any of they will be involved in this
Best to ignore the ignorant comments !!
