A 14-year-old boy who was arrested in connection with an assault on a man in his 50s will face no further action over the incident.
As first reported by Island Echo, Police cordoned off a section of the High Street on Tuesday night after a man suffered facial injuries.
On Wednesday, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary said they were working to identify 2 teenagers who were suspected of being involved in an altercation.
Now, it has been revealed that a 14-year-old has this week been arrested and questioned over the assault.
Officers have followed up all lines of enquiry, including speaking to all those involved and reviewing CCTV. On the basis of the evidence gathered, the boy has been released with no further action.
The investigation has been concluded.

The comments the other day by someone who claimed to have witnessed the incident suggested that the man in his 50s instigated the attack and he should have had more sense than to pick a fight with a gang of young lads. Could be hearsay but that was the gist.
Far more likely than the idea that the lad was let off because of his age. Probably one of the Codgerati who post here.
