UPDATED: Police and Coastguard teams are this afternoon (Monday) in attendance at Culver Down near Sandown, responding to reports of a missing man.
Coastguard Rescue Teams from Bembridge and Ventnor are working alongside Police officers to locate a 22-year-old male.
WightSAR, the Island’s volunteer search and rescue organisation, have been placed on standby.
UPDATE @ 16:30 – Coastguard Rescue Teams are preparing to lower a team member over the cliff edge in the search for the missing man.
A motorcycle belonging to the unnamed male has been found abandoned in a nearby car park.
UPDATE @ 17:10 – A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary has confirmed they are increasingly concerned about the welfare of a 21-year-old* man who has been missing since 18:00 yesterday evening.
A family member reported to Police earlier today that the missing person’s motorcycle had been discovered at the far end of Culver Down, prompting this afternoon’s search.
Police are talking with friends and family and are following several lines of enquiry, including a search of the area.

PDATE @ 19:50 – It has been confirmed this evening that a body has been found in the search for the missing 21-year-old man, although formal identification is yet to take place.
The body was found at the foot of Culver Cliff earlier this evening and is being recovered by the Hampshire Constabulary Marine Unit vessel ‘Commander’.
Island Echo understands the young man is local to the Sandown area.
There are currently no suspicious circumstances.
