The Isle of Wight Youth Trust has expressed delight at receiving a donation of £8,500 from the Morrisons Foundation.
The funding from the charitable arm of the supermarket has covered the costs of new kitchen equipment to help Youth Trust deliver healthy eating workshops for a year.
Matt Hall, Service Lead at the Isle of Wight Youth Trust, has said:
“We are absolutely thrilled to receive this grant from the Morrisons Foundation. Young people have a range of challenges and usually the first thing that suffers is their nutrition.
“This grant will enable us to educate and improve the situation for many young people who will see just how practical and budget friendly eating healthy can be. We can’t wait to get started and look forward to sharing our successes in the future.”
David Scott, Morrisons Foundation Trustee, has said:
“The cost of living crisis continues to hit us all hard, that’s why it’s great that we’re supporting Youth Trust’s ‘healthy eating on a budget workshops’.
“These workshops will provide a great opportunity for young people to not only learn how to cook nutritious meals, but also balance their finances, which will prove very useful later in life.”
The Youth Trust offers wrap-around support for young people on the Isle of Wight aged between 5 and 25. As part of this, young people can access counselling, therapy, wellbeing support, employment and careers and housing support.
