A member of the public has rescued a young boy in difficulty in the sea at Ryde Beach this lunchtime (Tuesday).
An eagle-eyed woman enjoying the summer sunshine near to Ryde Harbour saw the youngster just off the shore and acted quickly to pull him to safety.
Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team and Ryde Inshore Rescue were tasked to the incident at around 13:30, but thankfully the situation was quickly resolved prior to their arrival on scene.
Following an initial assessment by Coastguard officers, an ambulance crew, a rapid response paramedic and a duty ambulance officer have all attended the scene.
Thankfully, the nipper has been given the all clear by paramedics and is now returning home with his mum and sibling.
Islanders are being reminded to keep a strong eye on children when at the seaside and everyone should be aware of the dangers of both the tide and wind.
If you or someone else is in difficulty on the coast or at sea, or if you spot what you think may be unexploded ordnance, then dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard. Further safety information can be found at https://coastguardsafety.campaign.gov.uk/.
