An uninsured driver who crashed into a Southern Vectis bus in Sandown back in February has been handed a 12-month driving ban.
Jordan Jude, 27, from Parkway in Apse Heath, admitted driving without a licence, driving without insurance and aggravated vehicle taking when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court earlier this month.
As previously reported by Island Echo, Police were called to Fitzroy Street at the junction with Leed Street at around 13:15 on the afternoon of 4th February following reports of a crash between a Ford B-Max and a Southern Vectis bus.
At the scene, Jude was arrested on suspicion of various motoring offences. He was found to be driving without a licence and without insurance. Jude had also taken the vehicle from someone known to him without their consent.
The damage to the Ford was such that the car was written off.
Magistrates handed the 27-year-old a 12-month driving ban. He was also handed a 12-month community order with £100 hours unpaid work and 10 rehabilitation days attached. He was costs of £85 and a £114 surcharge fee.
I wonder how a driving ban will affect a person who was already driving without a licence, without insurance and who stole a car?
I can’t believe the “sentences” that are handed out to these morons. They are in control ( or not, as the case may be!!) of a potentially lethal weapon – should be treated the same as attempted murder!
Law on the Island is too soft.
Everyday I see vehicles speeding and no one
Stops them.
The Law and Council are useless, we need a man
like Sadiq Khan running the show, he would put a
Stop to what is allowed to take place on the island.
We need stronger and stricter laws, too many
idiots are driving around on the island even though
they are banned.
They have no respect for Law and Order.
We need to see more Police on the streets, also
if a person is banned and they drive whilst banned
INSTANT IMPRISONMENT IS THE ONLY ANSWER
It is fine people wanting other people locked up but where are the prison spaces? The prisons, like every public service, were cash starved and lacked investment under the 14 years of the last government. The new government has its work cut out to rebuild those services but has tto prioritise. What should they invest in first, hospitals or prisons?
They could re-open Camp Hill
Have a cheap bodge up, and house the scumbags
inside, they will never be any good for society.
Once a wrong un, always a wrong un.
As said if they’re willing to do it already what deteriorate is giving 12 months ban probably taken 12 months to get license and not going to stop them. However if you charged them the costs of the damage would of been the best solution
Also what would of happened if that been a child and not a bus hope the prat reads these comments and actually realize what a idiot
