Year 6 pupils from 3 Isle of Wight primary schools marked the end of their primary education in style with a glamorous Met Gala-inspired leavers’ prom organised by the children themselves.
Pupils from St Blasius CE Primary Academy, St Francis Primary School and Lanesend Primary School, all part of the Isle of Wight Diocese Church of England and Catholic (DCAT) Academy Trust, came together for the celebration after months of planning.
Children from all 3 schools formed a Prom Committee, taking responsibility for organising every aspect of the event. They selected the Met Gala-inspired theme, chose the silver, white and blue colour scheme, picked the music and menu, and even voted for the Prom King, Queen, Prince and Princess.
Guests arrived via a red carpet, provided by JM Flooring, with some pupils making a grand entrance in a range of vehicles, including a Porsche and a Ford Mustang.
Refreshments were provided by Relish, while Fusion Band kept pupils entertained throughout the evening.
The event was made possible with support from the PTAs at all 3 schools, who worked together to help organise the celebration.
Executive Principal Alex Augustus said:
“I am incredibly proud of every one of our Year 6 pupils across St Blasius, St Francis and Lanesend. This evening was a wonderful celebration of their achievements, friendships and the many memories they have created during their primary school years.
“It was particularly special to see the children leading the planning of the event and working together so successfully across our family of schools.

“As they prepare to move on to the next stage of their education, we wish them every success and happiness for the future.
“They leave us with many reasons to be proud, and we look forward to hearing about all they accomplish in the years ahead. Congratulations, Year 6 – enjoy every moment of your exciting next adventure.”
The trust has thanked everyone who helped make the evening possible, saying it was a memorable way for the pupils to celebrate the end of one chapter before beginning the next as they prepare to start secondary school.
