Wightlink have recently supported the Isle of Wight Scouts in their latest photography competition.
The winners were Elaine Sharkey (Adult section), Maddy Reeves from 1st Shanklin (Beavers section), Moza Ackroyd from Ryde and Ewan Bramell from Brighstone (Explorer section joint prize winners) Zack Capon (Network Scout section) and Amanda Coyle (non Scout section) – all received travel vouchers from Wightlink.
Some of the winning images were of the 23rd Scout Jamboree in Japan.

Ewan Bramell says:
“My photo was taken at the closing ceremony where all 33,000 Scouts from 162 countries celebrated an amazing 12 days. It was a great symbol of Scouts coming together in peace and shows that people from differing races and religions could exist together in harmony.
“The photo reminds me of three of the most amazing weeks of my life. If it wasn’t for the Scouting movement I would never have gone to Japan and meet up with a great group of Scouts from the Isle of Wight, Hampshire and around the world.”
Mark Persad, Head of Marketing for Wightlink Ferries and a Scout himself says:
“The winners of this competition should be very proud of their achievement. Scouting is great fun for everyone, giving all a platform to learn new skills, build life long friendships and experience out of the ordinary activities. We look forward to working a lot closer with Scouts and Guides on the Island as well as the mainland.”
Scouts Media Development Manager Malcolm Cox adds:
“Young people experience so much by getting involved in Scouting and many of our fantastic activities are well worth photographing. We will be running another competition in 2016 and urge all of our 1,500 Scouts including Beavers, Cubs, Explorers, Network and helpers to get involved and capture the moment in a picture.”
