The IW Met Service has issued a yellow weather warning for fog on the Isle of Wight later on today (Boxing Day), which will remain in force throughout Thursday and well into Friday.
Patchy fog will develop this evening and will become locally dense in some places.
Local forecasters say the main risk is for Thursday night and into Friday with the potential for some widespread and dense fog, which may persist throughout the day in some places.
Visibility will be extremely poor at times and is likely to lead to travel disruption – particularly to Red Funnel’s vehicle ferry service which cannot operate in and out of Cowes Harbour in low visibility.
The weather warning is in force from 22:00 tonight (Wednesday) until 15:00 on Friday (28th December).
