Healthwatch IoW have carried out a new health and care survey on Maternity Services provided on the Island by the Isle of Wight NHS Trust.
The major new study has reported that the majority of mothers are happy with the Maternity services provided. Ninety per cent of mums rated ante natal care and post natal care as either satisfactory, good or very good, while 92 per cent rated care during labour and birth as either satisfactory, good or very good.
The Trust will be responding to the five recommendations that Healthwatch IW believes will improve our services further.
Welcoming the announcement of the first Health and Care Watchdog Study by Healthwatch IoW, Alan Sheward, Director of Nursing and Workforce at Isle of Wight NHS Trust said:
“It is important to us that our patients, our members, our staff and all Islanders have confidence in the NHS. These surveys and visits to our services, provide assurance that we are meeting the needs of patients and we shall welcome future studies on more of our services”.
Annie Hunter Head of Midwifery added:
“It is always good to read positive comments on the service and also identify where we need to focus to make it even better. We get a lot of feedback from our families in various ways and we welcome healthwatch as another source to gain valuable insight”.
