Part of a warehouse in the centre of the Isle of Wight’s county town could be transformed into residential accommodation.
ERMC has sought prior approval for a conversion of the ground and first floor reception and office area of 16 Pyle Street in Newport into a two-bedroom apartment.
Internal changes will be needed to form new walls, sanitary accommodation and a kitchen area as part of the proposal, a statement from the applicant said.
“The building has generally been used as warehouse throughout its history.
“Newport retailers Dabell’s owned the building for many years.
“There will be no impact on transport or parking issues in the area. Noise impacts will be dealt with through lining existing walls in accordance with Part E of the Building Regulations.
“There is adequate natural light to all habitable rooms.”
The Isle of Wight Council’s public consultation on application 26/00382/3MAPA lasts until 21st April and a decision is expected on 13th May.
