Islanders are being encouraged to vote now in a national competition which could see a major win for Sandown’s Wildheart Animal Sanctuary.
The Sanctuary’s Zeb Fisher has been shortlisted alongside 9 other finalists from across the UK in the VisitEngland Tourism Superstar competition.
Now in its 13th year, the national competition seeks out champions working in tourism who provide the most memorable experiences for visitors, as well as showcasing the variety and quality of England’s tourism offer and destinations.
Voting is live and runs until Friday 23rd March – vote at http://www.visitengland.org/superstar.
The Isle of Wight has featured in the national competition before, with winners including Red Funnel’s Jim O’Reilly in 2018 and Hovertravel’s Lorry Middleton in 2020, while Isle of Wight Ramblers were runners-up in 2024.
Zeb was chosen from a long list of submissions from employers and destinations across England, making the final shortlist of 10.
Lee Saudan, Head of Marketing at Wildheart Animal Sanctuary in Sandown, says:
“We are so incredibly proud of our Head of Learning and Discovery, Zeb Fisher for her selection as a finalist!
“Zeb has been a vital part of our team for almost 3 years, during which time she, together with her team, have grown and developed our education and group offering, bringing the animal world to life in a fun and engaging way for so many, whilst highlighting the plight that our animals face across the globe.
“For her to be recognised for all of her efforts in this way means the world to us, she is already a Superstar to us!”
Will Myles, Managing Director at Visit Isle of Wight, adds:
“It will be absolutely amazing when Zeb wins Tourism Superstar in 2025. Not only for the recognition of all the work that Zeb does at Wildheart Animal Sanctuary in engaging with visitors and in the wider community, but the added bonus of highlighting our Island as a fantastic visitor destination.
“I urge everyone to vote for Zeb to bring the VisitEngland Tourism Superstar award home!”
Voting ends at the culmination of English Tourism Week, which takes place from 14th-23rd March 2025.
