Vecta House care home in Newport was a beacon of yellow last Friday (10th October) as staff and residents joined businesses, schools and households across the Isle of Wight for Go Yellow Day in support of Mountbatten.
The home was transformed for the occasion, with vibrant decorations and a sunflower-themed merchandise stall set up in the reception area.
Staff took the yellow theme to heart, arriving in fancy dress costumes including a banana, a bumblebee, and a pineapple – bringing fun and laughter throughout the home.
In the afternoon, residents and guests enjoyed a yellow-themed tea party complete with specially baked cakes from the home’s chef.
Entertainment was provided by Sandy, who performed a lively set of ABBA hits that got everyone singing and dancing along.
A total of £142 was raised for Mountbatten Hospice through the day’s events.

The home turned a cheerful shade of yellow, with everyone dressing up in bright colours and accessories to raise money for the incredible work Mountbatten does in providing compassionate end-of-life care across the Island.
The event created a wonderful atmosphere of togetherness, kindness, and joy. Residents and team members alike embraced the theme, and generous donations were collected throughout the day to support Mountbatten’s vital services.
