Residents at a Newport care home have been celebrating cultural diversity with a colourful annual party alongside members of the Isle of Wight’s Indonesian community.
Vecta House has marked the fifth year of its now well-established Culture Party, which brings together residents, staff, families and members of the wider community through food, music and dance.
As part of the celebrations, staff prepared a range of traditional dishes representing their own home countries, creating an international feast for everyone to enjoy.
A highlight of the event saw members of the Isle of Wight Indonesian community attend in traditional dress and perform authentic dances, with residents enthusiastically joining in the celebrations.
The annual event aims to promote inclusion and celebrate the many cultures represented within the Vecta House family.
Tanya Everson, Lifestyle Leader at Vecta House, said:
“This event is all about celebrating the beautiful cultures and diversity that make our Vecta House family so special. What better way to achieve that than through food and music?
“Our residents had an absolute blast joining in with the dancing, and we are so grateful to the Indonesian community and our wonderful staff for making our fifth year the best one yet.”
Vecta House, based in Newport, provides specialist nursing and dementia care and regularly organises activities designed to enrich residents’ lives and strengthen links with the wider Isle of Wight community.
