Traffic is backing up in the East of the Isle of Wight this afternoon (Friday) following a 2-car collision at a busy junction near Ryde.
A Nissan Micra and a Ford Fusion have been involved in a side-on collision at the junction of Smallbrook Lane and Great Preston Road, with queues of traffic building along Smallbrook Lane and stretching down Great Preston Road.
One of the vehicles has sustained significant front-end damage, while the other has suffered damage to its left-hand side.
Officers that were in the area on patrol are at the scene managing the incident at the 3-way junction, where motorists exiting Smallbrook Lane face traffic approaching from both directions on Great Preston Road.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that no serious injuries have occurred as a result of the collision.
Motorists are being warned to expect delays in the area while the incident is dealt with.
