Freshwater Parish Council has thanked The Hut Restaurant, for their generous donation of £500 towards the upkeep of the Colwell Bay Buoys.
The donation from The Hut Restaurant will go directly towards the maintenance, laying and retrieving of the buoys and any future replacement buoys, ensuring that the safe swimming area continues to be accessible to all. The ongoing care of the buoys is an important initiative for the Parish Council, as it contributes significantly to the well-being and safety of the community and its visitors.
Swimmers and other beach users were at risk from powered craft such as speedboats and jet-skis, and other fast-moving watercraft including windsurf and kite surfing boards which use the bay.
The Colwell Bay Buoys are essential to ensuring the safety of swimmers in the area, creating a designated, safe swimming zone. These buoys play a vital role in protecting visitors and residents alike, helping to avoid potential hazards in the water and enhancing the overall experience of those enjoying the bay.
James Rowley, General Manager at The Hut, said:
“We’re delighted to help make the bay a safe and accessible destination for the whole community to enjoy, I look forward to those glorious summers days when Colwell is bustling with families enjoying a good old-fashioned day out at the seaside, arm bands, buckets and spades to boot!”
Emma Cox Chair of Freshwater Parish Council, said:
“The Parish Council is delighted to receive this generous donation from The Hut Restaurant.
“Their support helps us to continue providing a safe and enjoyable environment at Colwell Bay. This donation demonstrates their commitment to the community, and we are pleased to have such a wonderful local business supporting our efforts.”
Freshwater Parish Council was granted planning permission in 2021 for the buoys in Colwell Bay and are licensed by the Marine Management Organisation, Trinity House and the Crown Estate.
The prices they charge, could afford more that is it a publicity stunt??
You’ve got it in one, cheap advert.
Really!?
They didn’t have to donate anything! They do not need publicity stunts!
Damned if they do, damned if they don’t. Yawn, yawn.
Comments like the ones above simply display a bitter, narrow-minded, simplistic bigotry from sad individuals with nothing better to say
This is a pittance to the Hut & the minimum they could do.
The Buoys wouldn’t be needed to protect swimmers & alike …. If it weren’t for the speed the inconsiderate fools approach the Hut by boat !
The island has a speeding problem on roads too!
Speeding is rife, maybe they should have speed Camera’s
in the sea.
Lol
Well done to the Hut.
Colwell used to be a lovely family beach, then this bunch of stuck up twats turn up and ruin it,overpriced food, and drunk hooray henrys falling all over the place.
I remember when it use to be a wooden shed cafe
Roast chicken and chips at sensible prices, nowdays
the chips in the Hut cost more than a meal did in the
old cafe.
Too many establishments think people want
fancy food at fancy prices.
Too many places nowdays charge £4 for a coffee.
I have stopped eating out.
