A shunt involving 3 vehicles has led to the closure of Shanklin’s High Street this afternoon (Sunday).
Police, paramedics and firefighters are on scene near the traffic light junction with Victoria Avenue, where a Ford Galaxy, Range Rover Evoque and another car have been involved in a rear-end shunt on the uphill approach to the lights.
The incident happened at around 15:30.
1 fire appliance from Sandown is currently on scene with firefighters working alongside their colleagues from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service to treat and move those involved.
Hydraulic equipment is being utilised.
Police have closed the road in both directions with local diversions in place.

The problem with Shanklin High Street is that many motorists park on the
Pavement, hence so many Shunts!
You couldn’t make it up could you, how is that possible driving up an high street approaching traffic lights????
What the hell is going on with the standard of driving, shorly not everyone is drugged up….
‘shorly not everyone is drugged up….’
What the hell is going on with the standard of English? Surely not everyone illiterate? That’s why we have spell checking and predictive text.
Sorry my spelling is not up to scratch, I do hope I haven’t offended you too much…
Not at all. I find it disappointing when the IE reporters can’t spell (writing English is their job after all) and when it is pointed out to them, they correct the error and don’t print the comment.
Embarrassing for them I expect…
Not surprised with drunk, drugged, phone watching, reckless selfish nasty people driving a few inches from your bumper to force you into being bullied to drive at ‘their’ pace.
Just drive even slower if it occurs to you.
Sorry to say but this is why the old should not drive
Trust me Kev, i drive in my job and i see plenty of young people driving like idiots. Just this morning a stupid girl came flying out of a junction without looking and i almost hit her. This happens on a daily basis lately!! Being a community carer is hard enough without having such crazy drivers on the road.
If that is the case why are the statistics showing most accidents happen to the 18-25 age group..
That should mean nobody should drive until they are 25.
Those who shunt are over whelmingly youngsters in a hurry. You regularly seem to have a real problem with ageing. Some sort of childish phobia.
Could I remind Kev of the previous discussion about age related driving incidents in which the police had confirmed that there were significantly more incidents involving younger drivers than elderly ones.
Could be Kev is overwhelmingly lonely and do desparate to get a message he throws in a, message he knows is a load of bully phaff and us just “happy” he gets any sort of message… Ahhh poor “Kevvy” you can’t cure stupid it’s, like playing chess, with a, pigeon. And as I reg walk this, way it’s, all ages and invariably people will try to pull out around bus at Daish Hotel forgetting cars will be coming at them from the other lights and yet to see anybody parked going up hill on the pavement apart from odd shop owner occasionally dropping off stock! Regent street you could be there all day if somebody parks badly but your allowed to park along there anyway…
Sorry kev I do think you have a point for a change
I’m not sorry to say you are an idiot, you comment with the view to getting a reaction, you point out that you are stupid and Sad.
Shunts are commonplace in Shanklin. Must be something in the water.
Price the young idiots off the roads, then it will be much safer for all of us…
U must be old not long now before ur in the box
