Mark King from Level 42 launched the festivities at the annual Short Breaks Fun Day held at Medina Leisure Centre on Friday (24th July).
Many children and young people with disabilities and/or additional needs and their families from across the Isle of Wight had fun, despite the weather; inside.
The annual fun and information day was hosted by the council’s Short Breaks team, which featured a range of activities and entertainment, including a bouncy castle, circus skills, arts and crafts, dancing and a number of fun games.
Councillor Jonathan Bacon, Leader of the Isle of Wight Council, said:
“This is an excellent event and a great chance for families to find out about the services and support available to them across the Island, but in particular to see for themselves the fantastic activities that Short Breaks provides.
“It was great to see so many children and young people enjoying themselves and engaging with the activities on offer. The rain certainly didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits at Medina.”
Other entertainment included Wight Falconry and Ryde Extreme.
As well as the entertainment on offer, there was also a chance for families to meet local short breaks providers and find out more about the activities they provide.
Summer short breaks activities and facilities are available to book now. For information and how to book, visit www.iwight.com/shortbreaks.
