Isle of Wight-based Sea Gels Shanty Band made a big impression at the Harwich International Sea Shanty Festival last weekend, performing to full houses across 6 energetic sets.
The group, known across the Isle of Wight for their lively sea shanties and nautical flair, drew standing-room-only audiences at venues large and small during the busy 3-day event. Festival-goers sang along enthusiastically as the band delivered rousing harmonies and quirky performances of traditional maritime tunes.
Organisers and attendees alike praised the band for their infectious energy, warm spirit and support for the RNLI – a cause close to the group’s heart. In addition to entertaining hundreds, the Sea Gels helped raise vital funds for both the festival and lifeboat services.
A member of the group has said:
“This was our first year and we loved it. The audiences were incredible, and it’s all in support of keeping sea music alive and supporting our lifeboat crews.”
Their success at Harwich has not only boosted the band’s profile but left a lasting impression on the coastal town – with plenty of new fans likely singing their praises.
